Netflix has cancelled Resident Evil after its first season because the drama did not perform well in Netflix’s Top 10, according to Deadline. Ahad Raza Mir, a Pakistani actor, made his Netflix debut with the show. The heartthrob portrayed Arjun Batra (Arj) in the OTT adaptation of the zombie game series.
Mir previously spoke to Khaleej Times about his experience working on the Netflix original. “When you’re working on TV, there are things you can’t do,” the actor explained. The nice thing about OTT is that it allows you to explore anything. That’s quite liberating for an actor. But the best thing about OTT is that it is global.”
The Dhoop Ki Deewar actor went on to say, “You can watch it from any location. That is why platforms such as Netflix are extremely valuable to everyone. It’s exciting for people to see your work as an actor, but I also think it’s great for the audience to interact with each other from different parts of the world while viewing the same content.”
The actor, who admits to having played all Resident Evil games and seen all of the films, describes his character as someone who is more important in the emotional moments. “I really understand the lore and the story that Resident Evil presents.” “But what’s really interesting about this show is that it’s turning that lore on its head and giving it a brand-new presentation,” the Ehd-e-Wafa actor added.
Resident Evil, created by showrunner Andrew Dabb, is set in the year 2036. Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska) fights for survival in a world overrun by bloodthirsty infected and insane creatures fourteen years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse.
Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation, but most of all by what happened to her sister, Billie, in this absolute carnage. Balinska, Lance Reddick, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Nuez star in the show. Connor Gosatti and Turlough Convery round out the cast.
