According to NBC News, US President Joe Biden lost his temper and shouted at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a phone call in June.
The tense exchange reportedly occurred on June 15 when Biden called Zelensky to inform him that he had secured $1 billion in defence and humanitarian funding for the country.
However, Zelensky allegedly did not express enough gratitude and began listing more things his country required. According to the report, Biden then raised his voice and stated that the American people were already being very generous.
The Ukrainian president quickly issued a video statement thanking the US for its assistance. According to the report, administration officials disputed claims that Biden yelled at Zelensky, instead claiming that he was “direct.”
According to the report, the two have since improved their relationship and secured tens of billions of dollars in additional funding for Ukraine.
The report comes at a time when Joe Biden is facing opposition from both Republicans and Democrats in his quest for another aid package for the war-torn country.
